Quintin Boat Club, winners of the Tideway Fixed-seat Junior Eights, Saturday, 27th May 1922
The course was from the clubhouse of Vesta Rowing Club (one of the clubs on Putney Embankment) to Harrod's Depository. Seven crews entered. In their 3-boat heat Quintin beat Vesta's 'A' crew by 1½ lengths, with Kensington Rowing Club in third place. The other heat had 4 crews: London Rowing Club beat Customs Amateur Rowing Club by 2 lengths, with Auriol Rowing Club third and Vesta 'B' fourth. In the final Quintin beat London by 1½ lengths. According to the Almanack the Quintin crew (from bow) was: RL Herring, TC Clayson, J Badcock, AL Clarke, LG Badcock, LA Hagen, L Poulter, J Wright (stroke), A Green (cox).
The crew is just below the black buoy, with Harrod's Depository in the background, and stroke is wielding the newly acquired trophy. Note also the fixed-pin riggers.
