After a successful season competing in the intermediate categories, we’re seeking prospective members to join our intermediate and senior men’s squad and become part of Quintin’s plan to become a front runner tideway club again. Quintin has many exciting things in the pipeline, over and above our excellent facilities, coaching and equipment, and we would therefore like to invite ambitious and committed individuals to consider these when deciding where to row for the next season and beyond.
Here is what Quintin has to offer in some more detail
World Class Coaching - Fred Smallbone (Olympic silver medallist, ex-Oxford blue boat coach, ex-USA squad coach and multiple Henley Royal Regatta winner) leads our coaching team, who all ensure we are competitive at every level. Quintin is fortunate to be able to pride itself on the fact that crews never boat without a dedicated coach to facilitate the outing, ensuring all our athletes walk away having gained something, every time, and at every level.
Site Investment and Redevelopment - Our club is about to enter a very exciting time, which consists of a multimillion pound site redevelopment. Building works are due to kick off later this year, pending planning permission from the local council. The facility will be hugely enhanced, with a new gym, clubhouse, ergo room, boat racks, crew resting areas, changing rooms, kitchen and bar, and much more. The club is using this redevelopment to catapult itself back into the limelight and to become a leading tideway club again. The new plans are expected to provide the club with a world class foundation upon which we can build on our objectives and ambitions. We invite interested oarsmen and women to enquire about these plans and become part of them.
Competitive Racing - The squad competes at the main Tideway heads and multi-lane events amongst others, ultimately in preparation for Henley Royal Regatta. Quintin is looking at re-establishing itself as a club to be reckoned with at local and senior regattas, the ultimate regatta being Henley Royal. Although in 2018 we had a good presence within intermediate fields, we are now looking at taking Quintin to a new level over the following years, with the ambition of becoming winning contenders at Henley Royal. Of course, this can’t happen overnight, and it certainly can’t happen without you, that’s why we have plans in place to support our journey there. Quintin also has a thriving masters squad which has done exceptionally well, past and present. Many of our masters are ex-GB squad members or HRR winners and have won at the World Rowing Masters Championships. Our training programme is built around a working lifestyle, and while focussed on being able to develop rowers and to compete at the top club level, it is flexible to accommodate the demands of a job.
Quality Fleet and Facilities - Quintin is home to an 80% Empacher fleet, which is maintained to a high standard. Recently our boats have been fitted with new shoes and slide beds, and our blades have undergone a full revamp in preparation for the 2019/20 season. We are constantly seeking new shells to upgrade our fleet. Quintin has one of the biggest gyms/training facilities on the tideway and has recently acquired brand new ergos to further complement its already good gym equipment. In terms of club gyms, we honestly think Quintin has one of the best on the tideway.
Membership - Our subscriptions are considerably cheaper than other major tideway clubs, half price in your first year out of uni and further reduced if you are a student.
On the Social Front - It goes without saying that at Quintin we believe that a healthy social scene is a vital ingredient to a successful squad/club. We therefore have several exciting social events lined up to make this a reality. Our picturesque setting naturally attracts our club members to the clubhouse for a few (1, 2, maybe 12) beers, regularly. We hold our annual club dinner whereby we have maintained the club’s rich traditions over the many years. We also hold social evenings such as our Small Boats Christmas Jumper Quiz night, which saw our HRR Britannia four walk away with victory in 2017, surprisingly beating out “knowledgeable” veterans squad…
Location - The club is conveniently located next to Chiswick Bridge, the closest stations (10min walk) being Chiswick and Mortlake stations, which are both on the mainline from Waterloo.
