A Future in Rowing

Never tried rowing as a competitive sport before? Quintin Boat Club has various activities aimed to give you an opportunity to see what the sport of rowing has to offer. We regularly run Beginner Courses which aim to teach you the basics and give you the opportunity to progress towards racing in open competition. Our next course begins in April 2013 and is aimed at 18-30 year olds.

The diagram below describes your possible routes in rowing. As a beginner, you would move clockwise around the various stages of rowing development. If you have some previous experience or a natural aptitude, there are a couple of possible shortcuts.

We very much look forward to meeting you. If you feel you need more information than is given on our website you can email learntorow@quintinboatclub.org or coach@quintinboatclub.org.

As a preliminary to our learn to row course QBC invites you to come along to a Taster Day, when you can try indoor and river based rowing, get a feel for the club and decide if you want to enrol for the full course.

Stage 2: Learn to Row

We hold Learn to Row courses once or twice a year. These start with three once-a-week sessions and then gradually build in frequency. Follow the link below for full details and to find out how to sign up.
